About PAT Testing

Many people feel confused when they talk about it. We regularly get people asking us just what is PAT testing, and, thanks to our course, you can learn more about it!

PAT testing is required to ensure that electrical appliances used within an environment are deemed safe for use. While not technically a legal requirement, portable appliance testing ensures your organisation adheres to a number of regulations outlined by several different bodies. Without regular PAT testing, accidents at work could end up being a messy affair involving court cases.

Learn from Qualified PAT Testers

Our in-house tutors are qualified experts with years of experience, and they'll walk you through everything from the basics of electrical safety to how to actually carry out the work yourself.

The course is split into two sections. In the morning session you'll learn all about how the theory behind electrical safety and PAT testing, allowing you to understand how everything works and ask any questions you might have about procedures. This part of the course also teaches you how this process of testing ensures the electrical safety of those in the workplace and informs you of the PAT testing regulations required.

In the afternoon session you'll apply the theory you learned during the morning and use it to perform physical testing yourself. This allows you to get a grasp of how to use PAT testers, how to test different types of electrical equipment and to gain the experience you need to be a qualified PAT tester!

Course Details

Our courses run in our Edinburgh establishment and generally run from 9am through to approx 4PM. There are several course slots available for block bookings, and free lunch is also included as part of the package.
