SuitabilityThis PAT Testing Business Start Up Course is specifically aimed at anyone who would like to start their own PAT testing business, or those with a responsibility to set and control a system in order to maintain portable electrical appliances. Course OverviewThe course covers the theoretical aspects of PAT testing detailing such aspects as the regulations, legislation, the principles of electricity and Health & Safety. You will then do PAT Testing in practice, conducting tests in a "real life" training environment. The practical testing is a hands on session, and shows you how to correctly use the PAT testing equipment including PAT Testing software packages. As this is a more in depth PAT course we also cover how to set up your own pat testing business including such topics as "Set up costs" and "Marketing". The course includes a City & Guilds 2377 In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment qualification and prepares you for the Exam which is taken on day two of the course. Day One Your first day will cover the basics of electricity, why we carry out PAT testing and everything you need to be able to pass the 2377-20. Day Two The second day begins with essential Health & Safety and working with electricity, how to choose a PAT tester if your just starting up and practical PAT Testing. You will carry out PAT Testing in real life scenario test bays which include a whole host of electrical appliances such as 415 and 110 volt appliances. With a fully equipped Kitchen and Office test bays you'll and carry out testing using a range of different types of PAT Testing equipment. After completing your testing you will be shown how to use PAT testing software and how to manage your PAT Testing results. This is a vital part of any PAT Testing business as all clients will require a PAT report for their records and as part of the service. You'll also get to print an invoice for your customer. Day Three
The third and final day will focus on the practicalities of starting your own business.
The day will outline essential information on how to set up a business. Covering such topics as Tax, Insurance, Business banking,

Pre-requisitesThere are no formal pre requisites however those who want to attend this course must have a strong interest in the subject area and be eager to learn a new skill. This is an open book exam that last for 1 hour. You will also be assessed on your practical testing. CertificationSuccessful candidates will achieve a City and Guilds The In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment - 2377-12 certificate and a certificate of attendance from PASS. Candidates who fail the examination will only receive a certificate of attendance from PASS.
