The Dundee PAT course will teach you how to carry out PAT work successfully.

There are a wide range of reasons you may wish to learn PAT testing, you may be responsible for maintaining appliances in a work environment, you may already be in the electrical industry and just want to diversify, or you may be new to electrics and PAT is the first step to your career. Regardless of your reason or ambition, the Dundee PAT course can help you achieve them.

PAT regulations state that anyone carrying out PAT testing must be competent to do so, the PAT course will teach to this regulation standard so you can be certain of quality training.

With theory training and practical learning working together, there is plenty of opportunity to practice real PAT testing under supervised guidance. You will study the following modules:

  • Principles of Electricity
  • Classification of Appliances
  • Electrical Dangers
  • Legal Requirements
  • IEE Code of Practice
  • Recording Results
  • How to use a PAT Tester

During the 20 question, on-book, PAT testing exam, you will be closely monitored to ensure a full subject understanding. If successful on the PAT course, you will be awarded with a Certificate of Competence.

The PAT course is one day long from 9.00-16.00. It is most suited to those interested in electrics who would either like to pursue a career in the field, maintain work appliances or learn a new skill.

Previous electrical training is not essential and you would be able to take further electrical course if required.

There are no essential reading requirements but you should make sure you have a copy of the IEE Code of Practice for reference.
